Earth Day

For Earth day this year we learned about how to conserve water and what things we are trying to save on the Earth. The first thing we did was paint a giant globe. Each student got to help paint part of the class globe. This was a great opportunity for us to work on sharing, patience, and collaboration. We also read several books about helping the Earth. Some of the books we read include Earth Day Every Day, Watch Over Our Water, and I Can Save the Earth.

Next we made our own Earth day superheroes. For this project we talked about what it meant to reduce, reuse, and recycle.  We also discussed what makes the Earth special.

Finally to finish up the learning the entire kindergarten team created several activities that related to what we were learning for Earth day and what we have been learning in science this year. One of the activities we did involved students using different kinds of recyclable materials to build.

We also painted a cherry blossom tree using a two liter bottle. We explored the difference between wood chips and saw dust, and we built our own airplane made of wood! It was a great time and all students were excited for these activities.
